For the love of Science

this is a little collage I did for my good friend Alita, an amazing herbalist!
It is actually hard to look at for me because the monkey in the collage is a famous monkey that died recently. He had just been released from a science laboratory. I am poking fun at science by having him point at the woman on the gurney on top of a pyramid with the third eye.
she is in front of a vault which I am guessing holds all life's secrets.
the man on the stamp holds out an ominous hand as if to say halt to the atrocities of experiments and testing on sentient creatures.
I then took a page from an anatomy illustration and ripped out the words superficial arteries.
The other stamp is British and I place it their for pure whimsy.

superimposing photographs onto collaged backgrounds.

the original mage is of my native brothers.
as I like to call them.
I have been working this image for years.
it is from an old photograph in the national archives
I scanned the photo and then made it into a photocopy.
the image of the primitive hunter gatherers are superimposed on top of that image.
I make this all into a high contrast flat image and then scanned it again into photoshop.
the first layer is of a page from a vintage palmistry pamphlet.
the photocopy is transferred onto to the first layer using gel medium.

Vancouver Olympics 2010 Inukshuck Whiterock B.C

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/04/26/Olympiclogo0426.html  While walking on the beach December 25 we discovered this whimsical Inukshuck placed upon the shoreline. This Inuit symbol has become the mascot of the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver B.C.
I believe their is some controversy surrounding these ancient and spiritual symbols being exploited by commercialism.
I think these have become the happy face of this generation and I see the image everywhere and on everything.
I am not sure how I feel about the controversy.
I like the image and what it stands for "The People Were Here"
