vintage specimen jar and illustrations

this is an illustration from an interesting anatomy book.
I covered the whole illustration in beeswax and then adhered the illustration to mylar paper.
I cut around the illustration and put it in this specimen jar to look like something from a lab.
the piece measure's just over 8 inches in height.
you can find these jars on eBay and you can download medical illustrations straight from the web.

Vintage Raleigh Touring bike England

I am selling my favourite bicycle.. This a vintage bike made in England and the quintessential bicycle you would see everyone their riding in the countryside.
I love the bike but I have to make room in my garage for other important and useful articles which I never use. I have had the bike for 12 years and have driven it twice in that time.
It is not practical for me because I once had a gorgeous bike stolen from Woseley and I am to paranoid to park this bike anywhere.
If you know anyone looking for a fantastic old bike please have them call me.

three muses Sandy, Elton, and Twiggy

Just look at these adorable three young woman getting all excited for the big Halloween parties in the Exchange District this past Saturday.
Left to Right is Sandy from the movie Grease and that is Elton (no last name required) in the middle.
and the third beauty is Twiggy.
She was actually buying the most gorgeous vintage headband for a flapper look.
I just called her Twiggy!

Antique Typewriters

Twenty-plus antique typewriters live with me. Let me tell you, these are NOT convenient things to collect. Postage stamps or pocket lint would have been better choices.

Beelitz-Heilstätten

this is an actual photo taken by bumble-bee on flickr.
she gets into the most interesting abandoned buildings.
this reminds me of my childhood.
my deaf sister Diane worked as a hairdresser at what was then the Brandon Mental Hospital. It was situated on the North Hill of town and had huge grounds overlooking a winding river.
She would often take me to work with her and I would hang around the kitchen making toast for all the patients.
They loved me and yet I feared them but I obliged because I knew I was a little ray of sunshine in their otherwise regimented routine.

Curvy Goddess

she stands about three feet tall and is at my front door.
I sometimes rest the watering can on her arm.
Now that Halloween is coming I think I am going to light her with a black light and the fog machine.
I have to change her name from goddess to Elvira...

Paper crepe costumes

I found this adorable 10 cent original price still on the cover, paper booklet dated from the thirties and produce by the Dennison Manufacturing Company.
I believe they are the people who make crepe paper. There are 25 patterns in all and I will show them all to you before the end of the month so come back often. They are very easy to make and require very little sewing.
You can find crepe paper at Michael's in all colours or you could sew these with real fabric too.
Have a safe halloween!
