Raven crosses the mother's path
I use conte pencils and crayon d'eche water colours.
I sometimes go around the drawing with indelible felt pen.
I like sharpie pens for this.
this particular piece is reminiscent of one of my metal sculptures of a dog walking her baby dog
with a human baby in the carriage as well.
in this narrative the woman is walking her baby and the huge raven is standing in her way.
the baby waves with glee and the mother is screaming...
she thinks the big bird is an omen.

forgetting to fly
I enlarged the photo and enhanced the colour and hue.
I then ran a page from a poetry book through the photocopier and printed the picture on top.
the moth is a transparency that I overlaid at the last minute and liked how it relates to the title of the poem.
it was not planned i just ripped a page without looking when I choose to photocopy over it this is what I had.
I would normally erase the print from the collage when it was in photoshop but I liked how the text related to the image...pure happenstance.

For the love of Science
this is a little collage I did for my good friend Alita, an amazing herbalist!
It is actually hard to look at for me because the monkey in the collage is a famous monkey that died recently. He had just been released from a science laboratory. I am poking fun at science by having him point at the woman on the gurney on top of a pyramid with the third eye.
she is in front of a vault which I am guessing holds all life's secrets.
the man on the stamp holds out an ominous hand as if to say halt to the atrocities of experiments and testing on sentient creatures.
I then took a page from an anatomy illustration and ripped out the words superficial arteries.
The other stamp is British and I place it their for pure whimsy.

wedding bliss
I then added the flowers and the background colour.
the wedding silhouette is just a line drawing superimposed over the collage.

superimposing photographs onto collaged backgrounds.
as I like to call them.
I have been working this image for years.
it is from an old photograph in the national archives
I scanned the photo and then made it into a photocopy.
the image of the primitive hunter gatherers are superimposed on top of that image.
I make this all into a high contrast flat image and then scanned it again into photoshop.
the first layer is of a page from a vintage palmistry pamphlet.
the photocopy is transferred onto to the first layer using gel medium.

Vancouver Olympics 2010 Inukshuck Whiterock B.C
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/04/26/Olympiclogo0426.html
While walking on the beach December 25 we discovered this whimsical Inukshuck placed upon the shoreline. This Inuit symbol has become the mascot of the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver B.C.
I believe their is some controversy surrounding these ancient and spiritual symbols being exploited by commercialism.
I think these have become the happy face of this generation and I see the image everywhere and on everything.
I am not sure how I feel about the controversy.
I like the image and what it stands for "The People Were Here"

Alligator suitcases
Don't you love these suitcases.
I still have the original Louis Vuitton for sale.
I also have a few of the suitcases and the lap desks.

I started this collage with the silhouette of the young girl it was a black and white image.. I coloured the image in photoshop and printed it and then rescanned it into a larger format picture..
